Big Bear Chamber of Commerce Announces Dam Closure
July 25th-30th

For five days the Dam will be closed to traffic starting at 10pm on July 25th and ending on July 30th. The Dam will reopen for weekend traffic. Highway 38 through Fawnskin will remain open during the closure to allow traffic in and out of Big Bear. Some flagging and delays will occur. Please plan accordingly and advise your guests and clients.

The Chamber of Commerce did successful negotiate with the Bridge Contractor and Caltrans to have additional temporary signs in Big Bear announcing that west end businesses will be open during the closure to lessen the economic impact. Also, all signs at the bottom of Highway 330 along the 210 Freeway will inform visitors of potential delays, but will not announce the Dam closure.

We request that you help us monitor the signage of the closure and immediately inform the Chamber if any signs read differently than what is included in this email. We want to make sure that the closure is signed correctly to ensure that visitors come to Big Bear.

We appreciate your understanding of this closure. We know it comes at a very difficult time, but the closure is necessary to ensure that the Bridge Project stays on schedule. Currently, the projected open of the Bridge will be before Christmas.

Sincerely,

Sara Russ

Funny, I used to love the Sizzler buffet and I really did it justice. The last time I had a grilled chicken breat and a side salad and I was stuffed. One thing though, I still can't keep any chocolate in the house. Sometimes, late at night when I am having trouble sleeping, I get the worst cravings for a Hershey bar. So, I just don't keep any in the house. All cokkies and brownies have nuts in them (I hate nuts). Sometimes cowardice is the better part of virtue.

Wonderful.. Feels good huh? I even made it a week in DC with Chef Art Smith's, Art and Soul restaurant cooking the food for our meeting. Didn't eat a cookie, brownie or his famous bread pudding and the funny thing was, I really didn't miss it.

Hi Rock: Hit the 35 pound mark today. Even went to K-Mart and tried on jeans. Git into a size 4 (and made the Big Guy take a picture so I have proof)! Think I will take it easy now and go into maintenance for a while and get used to the "new me".

Per Scanner: Helicopter 534 has made a pass over the area and unable to find anything. Big Bear units are going available.
